Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is seeking a full-time, 12-month chemistry faculty member at the rank of assistant professor who also carries a half-time appointment as institutional & academic grants director. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2018.

Specific responsibilities of this position are as follows:

• Embrace and advance the Catholic, Franciscan mission of the university by ensuring that all teaching, service and scholarly responsibilities are consistent with the mission and implemented to achieve its goals

• Teaching organic chemistry and other introductory or upper level chemistry courses/labs as needed

• Provide service to the institution in a faculty member role

• Create and maintain systems for dissemination of funding opportunities, application processes, and other grant related materials

• Identify external funding which match the University mission and support strategic priorities

• Write, edit, revise and/or submit grant proposals consistent with funding requirements

• Develop an annual strategic plan to encompass institutional needs for project/program advancement.

Qualifications:

Required

• Master’s degree in Chemistry with emphasis on organic chemistry

• 1 year of teaching at an institution of higher education

• 1 year of grant writing experience

Preferred

• Ph.D. in Chemistry with emphasis on organic chemistry
